About SkillBase Labs (Overview)
SkillBase Labs (Pty) Ltd is a South African skills-focused training and services company built on one simple principle: precision matters. We provide practical laboratory training, data handling solutions, and method development support to help students, researchers, and professionals build strong technical foundations.
Our goal is to close the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application; empowering individuals with hands-on competence, confidence, and accuracy. We believe that precision in the lab translates to better science, better data, and better outcomes.
Beyond the lab, SkillBase Ballistics offers supervised recreational shooting sessions, allowing participants to experience precision and focus in a different but equally disciplined environment. Every project, every shot, every task — approached with intent, structure, and a respect for detail.
My name is De Wet Clasen, and I’m the founder and director of SkillBase Labs. I’m a postgraduate researcher, academic intern, and precision enthusiast with a deep-rooted commitment to turning skill into mastery. With a strong background in pharmacology and laboratory science, I’ve built hands-on expertise in method development, sample preparation, data analysis, and lab training. My passion lies in bridging the gap between structured academic learning and the precision demanded in real-world research and industry.
My passion for precision extends well beyond the lab. I’ve been a dedicated sport shooter for more than a decade, proudly representing my branch at regional level for multiple years and at national level in 2025. The same discipline, consistency, and focus that define my scientific work are the cornerstones of how I approach shooting.
Whether I’m working behind a bench or behind a barrel, I believe in measured practice, attention to detail, and never settling for “good enough.” That philosophy drives every SkillBase workshop, every analysis, and every shooting session.
Precision isn’t just what I teach — it’s how I live.
